Sportswear has come a long way, each and every season retailers and sports brands are combining more of a style aesthetic to your everyday basketball shorts and athletic leisures. Gone are the days of just simply putting on some regular mesh shorts to go hoop with the bros, you have to do it with style now, but with the help from our friends at Urban Outfitters and FILA they just made it a little easier to have a little style while working out or playing ball.
Korean sportswear brand FILA has teamed up with Urban Outfitters for a basketball collection.
After collaborating with Lil Yachty and friends for their Spring 2016 Nautica Collection, UO continues to bring back the nostalgic gear of ’90s aesthetics and the essence of basketball gear X street style: “streetball style.” Drawing inspiration from famous basketball courts like West Fourth Street, New York “The Cage”, to the oceanside courts at Venice Beach, FILA’s nostalgic logo is flagrantly featured through the classic styles of mesh tanks and athleisure pants.
Also included within the eight-piece men’s collection are mesh shorts, two long-sleeve tees, one with a Mickey Mouse graphic, a short-sleeve T-shirt, tearaway pants, basketball shorts, a jacket, and drawstring gym bag. This collection is also available for women, comprised of seven pieces including a jersey tank, basketball shorts, a cropped mesh jersey, a cropped hoodie, tearaway pants, a jacket, and a romper. Also to wrap up this dope collection are slides with the FILA logo embroidered on the top and sneakers.
The FILA + UO Basketball Collection ranges from $16 USD to $100 USD and is available now at urbanoutfitters.com for a limited time. The collection will also be available in North American stores starting May 22. Ending on an even better note FILA will also be donating $10,000 USD to the Boys & Girls Club in celebration of this new collection.
