In the words of the Power Puff Girls, “…love, love, love, love, love--makes the world go round!” We definitely have to agree after watching Shemar Moore’s latest film, The Bounce Back. This indie film is a romantic comedy starring this handsome hunk of an actor and it will melt your heart while knocking your socks off!
In the film Shemar is Matthew Taylor, a self-help guru who has written a book, The Bounce Back.
Matthew’s book attests that people can get over heartache very quickly by following the steps he outlines in his book. Handsome and charismatic, he is naturally a magnet for women. However, he also a doting father who is not over his ex-wife.
Although many people buy into his book, one woman, a licensed psychologist, Kristin Peralta (Nadine Velazquez) is not one of them. She views Matthew and his methods as quackery, openly debating him at a speaking engagement. Their squabble goes viral, and Matthew’s agent, Terry (Bill Bellamy), realizes they will need her to reach the top of the Best Seller’s List. What we get, however, is a beautiful and funny story of two people wounded by love, finding that there may be more between them than just their fear of being hurt again.
We are seldom fans of the romantic comedies, but this film was amazing. Not since Will Smith and Eva Mendez played cat and mouse in Hitched, have we enjoyed a romantic comedy so much. The chemistry between the actors was on point and the story line is very relatable. Everyone gets their heart broken in some form or fashion in their lifetime; and this film just shows you their’s life after love. In fact, there’s a lot more of it!
We definitely want to support indie films, especially when the star funded it. Yep, Shemar stepped outside of Hollywood and in an empowering move, created his own film. We have already told you how great it was, but above all else the quality of the film was on par with any romantic comedy mainstream studios would put out. At the the Atlanta premiere of the film, Shemar revealed how much this film was a labor of love for him; and emphasized just how important it is that African-American began to make their own stories.
We are 150% behind Shemar and will be sure to see The Bounce Back again! You can catch this amazing movie in a theater near you nationwide!
