I’m not sure if you’ve heard by now, but with the wake of 2 Chainz and his multi-million dollar ugly Christmas sweaters, some rappers have taken to the business of holiday wear vastly. Actually this past December Wale and streetwear clothing company Akomplice collaborated in releasing a one of a kind ski-inspired suit and mask. Looking for new ways to showcase their unique style and vibrant clothing, the Colorado based streetwear brand enlisted in the help of the DMV’s own Wale based on his creative and personal style. Inspired by a scene in Audio Push’s “Quick Fast” video where the rapper first saw the pair of ski overalls. As of recently though a special video look book has been released from Akomplice Clothing, showing the behind the scenes of the creative progression of the ski suit line. The video recaps Wale’s and the rest of the Akomplice team including co-owners Mike and Patrick Liberty in the creative process of the ski-inspired suit, shot in the Hollywood Hills. You’ll also hear discussion of further influence behind this line and details on each piece. Wale and Akomplice completely revamped the average old ski suit into a modern perfect winter fit. Complete with AQUASEAL waterproof
zippers, courtesy of YKK, including 3M reflective hits on the knees, ankles, and calf, as well as matching ski masks, this apparel line definitely hit the mark of new innovative ways of using material and fabric to create a dope winter collection. Get into it guys, the winter season is still not over, in fact I got chills this morning walking to class braving those harsh cold winds. The collection is available at Akomplice-clothing.com if you want to check it out and you can watch where the magic began down below of the behind-the-scenes video look book. – EffYeahMark
