Have you ever wondered which approach to skin care you should take?
Yes, taking care of your skin is very important. It is one of the best ways to remain youthful. Caring for the biggest organ of your body can slow the aging process drastically. Gone are the days of a simple wash and go. Taking steps to have a glow is just that, steps. With everyone hyper sensitive to being considered basic, more steps have been added to the Western world’s routine. Now you’re stuck in a place of following a not-so-new trend over here or stick with what you have always done. Which is going to be the best skin care routine for you?
KISS
The KISS method is something that can be used in all areas of your life. It is an acronym that means keep it simple stupid or keep it simple and sexy. We like the second interpretation. So now you may be asking, “what is the KISS method for washing your face?” The answer is truly simple: cleanse, tone and moisturize. The key to having a successful skin care routine is knowing your skin type.
Multi-Step Method (Korean Skincare)
This method of skin care is more elevated, in terms of steps taken to care for your skin. Yes, the steps from the KISS method are used and they are important, however, the additions are equally important. Never heard of this method, well here are the steps: Remove makeup, clean skin (cleansing oil alone or the double cleanse method), exfoliate, tone, essence, serum, sheet mask, eye cream, moisturizer, and night cream. All of that, in that order! That is just the night time. The morning time is also a multi step process. Wash your face with water only, toner, essence, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
Things to Consider
Time: Out of the two methods, which do you have time for? Or, would you be willing to make time for the multi step process?
Cost: How much money are you willing to spend? Naturally, you would assume that the multi step process cost more. To a degree, that is true. However, if you want to spend a large amount on the KISS method of skincare, that is possible also (insert La Mer). Even if you want to try the multi step process and save some money, you can on certain steps but it is always recommended that you splurge on your serums and moisturizers.
Either way, the goal is to have healthy, radiant and lovely skin. You can pick one over the other or take elements from the multi step process. Once you get accustom to the steps, you will be an expert at it. Always remember to have fun, try new things and WEAR SUNSCREEN OF AT LEAST SPF 30+!
