You may know her as Xocoya on social media. She’s a fashionable mommy, wife, and Owner of ‘Her Kloset’ in Atlanta, Ga.
I recently got the opportunity to engage in a conversation with her. An get the inside scoop on how she’s accomplishing motherhood and her transition from L.A. back to Atlanta while still managing to indulge in self-care.
One of the many things that caught my attention about Coya was her personal style and love for books.
With that being said, let’s jump into the interview.
Me: What are 3 books that you suggest everyone should read?
Coya: You only want me to give 3? I have so many that I can suggest. My top 3 are the
1. 4 agreements
2. Clever girl Finance
3. What successful people do before breakfast
I am so glad Coya said the 4 agreements. It’s an amazing book. It will help you align and become intentional. I’ve read it at least 5 times.
Me: If I was to ask your husband to give me 3 adjectives to describe you. What would he say?
Coya: He would say, I am Organized,
Blunt, and creative.
Me: So tell me about ‘Her Kloset.’ How did it get started?
Coya: ‘Her Kloset’ is an online e-commerce boutique. It started 8 years ago and I had a partner in the beginning. However, as time went by our visions switched and we started bumping heads when it came to what ‘Her Kloset’ stood for and the direction it was heading.
Me: Where do you see ‘Her Kloset’ in the next 5 years?
Coya: I haven’t spoken on it yet! But I’ll be closing the shop. I am no longer motivated or feel challenged. I’ve done so well over the years building the brand, but I feel there’s no end goal. I’m working on something new, I’ll be announcing soon!
I respect Coya for admittedly saying she’s not motivated or driven to continue. She’s very brave and it shows how much she cares about her brand. She recognizes that she no longer will be able to give that extra touch that keeps your brand growing. I’m sure Coya’s faithful shoppers will be disappointed but ecstatic for the next business that she’s building.
Me: What’s your style aesthetic? I think you’re very fashionable.
Coya: I’m a mixture of girly and chic. You may see me in a baby doll dress paired with combat boots. And I love western boots!
Me: What does Self Care look like for you?
Coya: Reading a book and having alone time.
Me: I noticed you moved to California. How was that?
Coya: In the beginning I was scared, but after a few months I adapted. I would even say my online business flourished more. I’m a planner, so that also helped me out a lot.
Me: Which city is better for raising kids? Atlanta or LA?
Coya: I would have to say Atlanta for kids, especially black kids. My kids are so happy to be back in Atlanta. Moving back to Atlanta, gave me anxiety. I had to readjust! Because in LA, I had become very focused. I’m a loner at heart!
Me: How do you balance being a wife, mother, and entrepreneur?
Coya: I plan everything… literally!! From my days, weeks and months. Scheduling allows me to see the bigger picture.
After my conversation with Coya, I pulled my scheduler out so I could start planning and become more aligned when it comes to my daily routines. Planning can make your life less stressful!
Thank you Coya!!!
