Some of us remember back in the day when our mothers were younger and and in love with the handsome Billy Dee. Any film, commercial and magazine spread featuring the handsome film star was sure to produce maximum results! Then pair Dee with the supreme Motown diva Diana Ross and there was magic at the movies! The 1975 film “Mohogany” became an African American film classic over the years with the likes of “Dreamgirls” and “Sparkle.” We’ve yet to see the same type of dynamic translated to cinematic awe in ages! So, we get a remake!
A remake of the 1975 Diana Ross film “Mahogany” is reportedly in the works from former Motown executive and producer Suzanne de Passe, reports BET.
Suzanne de Passe and her partner Phillip Madison Jones are looking to reboot “Mahogany” for their De Passe-Jones Entertainment, which is currently producing an adaptation of Star Jones’ novel “Satan’s Sisters” and a Martin Luther King Jr. biopic with Steven Spielberg.
This will be interesting, no doubt! But we’re dying to know the would-be/could-be cast potentials for the lead roles! Who do you think could pull off this classic remake?
