Fans everywhere were shocked and saddened to learn Will Smith would not be in the sequel to Independence Day. Even worst is when we learned his character had been killed off screen! This had many people up in arms, feeling the movie just will not be the same without him. Personally, we feel the same way, but we do not doubt it will be just as good, maybe even better. Apparently, Will Smith also is not happy with his character’s demise, revealing in an interview with Yahoo Movies just how he felt:

“I was working on Suicide Squad during that time,” he said, referring to the film’s production. “[Independence Day director] Roland [Emmerich] and I had talked about it. The trailer looks really cool. I’m going to be sitting around with tears in my eyes when that one comes out… It was terrible when I found out my character died.”

We definitely wish Will was going to be in Independence Day: Resurgence, but things happen. Still, if he has to miss out on being Steve to be Deadshot in Warner Bros./DC Comics’ Suicide Squad. We are sure Jessie Usher will do him and the film justice as Dylan Hiller. Be sure you catch the trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence below! Tell us what you think in the comments section.
